Another installment on another installment on the Excelsior land raider. At some point I had the wacko idea to make it look more akin to a relic tank dating back to may be even before/during the heresy era. So got a pair of volkite cannons, and had to figure out a way to make it fit the sponsons on the chassis. If anyone ever decides to do this themselves, I suggest you use the gun supports from the LR crusader, since there is much less to cut off on them than the las cannon supports. On the other hand, the las cannon supports do have more mechanical bits on them.

And I am calling it quits on the painting for the Primaris. At some point you just got to be merciful, put down the paint brush, and set it on the display shelf. Now to finish the damn land raider....
Calling it quits on sculpting all of the detailing on the Rhino Primaris, Will be tormenting it with a paint brush in a little bit. Referring to the legend of the Dragon Gate, the Primaris gets to be decorated with carp/koi while the LR Excelsior gets dragons, and one big big eagle. The dozerblade is magnetized, and the turrets are held in by simple friction. Was going to make it be modular enough to be a predator, but the side doors kind of put the cabash on that. Basically is going to be a support tank whenever on the table top.

Long time, no head shot.... So, to offer proof that I am still alive and being productive, not slumped over my work desk decomposing, here are a few pics of "my version" of the Landraider Excelsior and Rhino Primaris. I started this sometime last year right about when the exclusive kit was made available(only from the big store in Britain). I like the concept of a paired set of vehicles that give some form of "buffs" to other units on the tabletop, but wanted to do something larger scale or more bling covered than what was released. Kind of how my BlingBlade baneblade tank project from years ago. May be it is over the top, but then again we are talking about 40K.
Hopefully more will come soon.

Another random find, what do you think I could do with this? End cap from the packing for a photocopier's toner cartridge.

What can I do with this?

Sorry for not posting more here, for the last few months have been a whirlwind of problems that pretty much consumed my entire block of free time and attention. Hopefully 2013 will be a more productive year on the hobby front. Anyhow... I was at the grocery store some weeks back and while picking up some juice, I noticed the plastic cap of this bottle of Dole fruit juice. Interesting, and yet rather Gothic, shape. PIC_0002 PIC_0004
